Smaller and less formal than the anniversary dinner, a sitsi is a popular kind of Finnish student dinner party. Associations organize sitsis e.g. to celebrate their anniversaries or just for fun. Some associations also organize fun themed sitsis and joint sitsis with other associations. In Tampere, the sitsi tradition means good food, lots of drink and joyful singing. Food is usually served from a buffet. In between eating, sitsis can include speeches, presents from one association to another or performances: anniversary sitsis often include dancing. These parties, too, go on until dawn.
