The Student Union of Tampere University (TREY) is now looking for three Wappu Director to join its cheerful team for Spring 2026 to help organize Finland’s biggest Wappu celebration! The Wappu Team, which organizes the event, consists of TREY’s Event Coordinator, the Wappu Directors, and representatives from The Teekkari Union of Tampere, including the Minister of Culture and Wappu Secretaries.
The student Wappu in Tampere brings together students from all campuses of Tampere University. The Wappu director work is led by TREY’s Event Coordinator.
The work begins in January and ends in May with final reporting. Please note that the work is especially intensive and demanding during March and April, and particularly during Wappu itself. The position is intended for students of Tampere University.

Responsibilities of a Wappu Director include
- Organizing TREY’s Wappu events, such as the Minna Canth statue flower ceremony and the Wappu Oath
- Collaborating with the Teekkari Union of Tampere, other student associations, and partners
Organizing the Biggest Wappu in Finland also includes
- Planning events in cooperation with the Teekkari Union of Tampere, such as the Wappu Revelation and Wappu Kick-off
- Event communication and marketing
- Coordinating the Teemutour (a two-week Wappu event tour that activates students) and the event calendar
- Developing the Biggest Wappu in Finland
- Final reporting after Wappu
We expect applicants to have
- A proactive and hands-on attitude
- A student-oriented mindset and team spirit
- Public speaking skills and clear verbal and written communication
- Good ideas for developing the Biggest Wappu in Finland and interest in fostering campus-wide community
- Organizational and systematic working skills
- Initiative and self-direction
- Fluency in either Finnish or English, and good skills in the other language
- Previous experience in event organization
- Availability and commitment especially during March–April
Additional assets for the role
- Familiarity with TREY’s associational field
- Layout design experience (e.g., Adobe InDesign)
- Video editing experience (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Photography and videography experience
- Category B driver’s license
