Group 35 000 (Ryhmä 35 000)

About one in six of the citizens in Tampere are university students. TREY and Tamko’s joint group, Group 35 000, upholds the students’ voices in urban advocacy. The group’s name indicates how many students there are in Tampere.

The students are a significant part of Tampere’s image and because of that, the goal of Group 35 000 is to make the students’ voice heard in the decision-making of the city and to improve the status of students in Tampere.

Group 35000's advocacy accomplishments: the most student-friendly city in Finland programme for the city, free contraceptives for under 25-year-olds, mobile tickets for public transport, regulations on parking moderated in the city centre, student housing planned for the city centre, Tulli area developed according to the students' wishes, city bikes located near campuses, bus route 6 between the campuses from 2021, tramway for Tampere, bike lane between city centre and Hervanta.
