Nominate a Good Teacher Award recipient by 30 March 2026!

TREY values the quality of teaching, the teaching staff’s interest in developing teaching and education, and the emphasis on student-friendliness in teaching. Our goal is to recognise teaching staff widely in the university community, which is why the Student Union presents the Good Teacher Award to three members of the teaching staff annually for particularly good teaching and its development.

The awarding process is coordinated by a committee consisting of TREY’s educational affairs sector, whose primary task is to act as a jury and propose the teachers to be awarded to TREY’s board. The committee has opened a form for the period of 2 March – 30 March 2026, through which any individual student or subject association can nominate a recipient.

Submit your nomination in the form through this link. Nominations should be clear and well-justified. We hope that all questions in the form will be answered. The form is open until noon on 30 March 2026.

During the selection process, we will take into account the three top fields of Tampere University—technology, health, and society—whenever possible. We welcome suggestions for good teachers from a wide range of fields!

The award can be given to any person working in a teaching position. The award is primarily given to three people and the prize includes a caricature of the recipients on the Good Teacher-wall and a certificate of honour. The recipients of the Good Teacher Award will be announced during the Wappu oath ceremony.

The general criteria for the award are:

  • diversity of teaching methods and tools,
  • accessibility of teaching,
  • motivation of students, and
  • interaction in teaching situations

This time, the special criterion is communality. For the special criterion, you can consider the following questions:

  • How does the teacher support the student’s attachment to the university community? This question can be considered from the perspective of the student community or the academic community.
  • How does the teacher support students’ growth as experts in their field?
  • How does the teacher encourage students to network both within and outside their field?
