301 candidates were in the run for TREY’s Council for the term 2026–2027. A total of 5515 votes were cast and the voter turnout was 26,67 %, which is slightly lower than in the previous council election, when the voter turnout was 28,68 %.
The Electoral Alliances with most council members in the Council of 2026–2027 are Viva – Tampereen yliopiston vihreä vasemmisto (7 seats) and Vihreä lista (6 seats). The biggest Electoral Circle is Tekniikan ratas, which is an Electoral Circle formed by teekkari based representative alliances – they got 16 seats in the council. Treyn Demariopiskelijat and Keskeiset are new Electoral Alliances in TREY’s Council with one seat each.
The candidates with the most votes were Saga Porjo from the Green List with 183 votes, Hafizur Chowdhury from International Representatives Group with 114 votes and Lauri Lindén from Tampereen yliopiston vihreä vasemmisto with 95 votes.
Secretary General Adam Zeidan comments the election result: “The number of candidates in these elections was encouraging, exceeding 300 candidates first time in years. Unfortunately, the voter turnout did not directly correlate with the number of candidates, but the decline in turnout was still moderate and participation was in line with previous TREY elections. A big thanks to everyone who worked on the elections and, of course, to our wonderful candidates and groups! I would also like to congratulate Punamulta election group, which has had active candidates in all of our Student Union’s council elections, but which today saw its candidates go through for the first time.”
