TREY supports the Accessibility NOW! citizens’ initiative

Accessibility NOW! is a citizens’ initiative proposing amendments to the Non-Discrimination Act and the Criminal Code so that failure to ensure accessibility is recorded as a separate form of discrimination, as required by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. These amendments would encourage various actors to engage in more equal, accessible, and inclusive activities.
TREY defends the rights of students and wants to promote accessibility and inclusion both on campuses and in society at large. For this reason, TREY is supporting the Accessibility NOW! citizens’ initiative. The TREY board made a decision on the matter at its meeting on December 11.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to study, work, and participate without having to constantly fight for their rights. Accessibility and inclusivity benefit us all, but for many, they are a prerequisite for participation. That is why we believe this initiative is particularly important.”

– Laura Heino,
Chair of TREY 2025
