Traditionally, recognitions were awarded at TREY’s eighth anniversary celebrations on 10 October 2026! This was the first time all merit-based recognitions under the Emblem and Flag Code of the Student Union were awarded at the same anniversary celebrations. The awarding of the recognitions is prepared by the Student Union’s Honorary Committee, on whose proposal the Board and the Council make decisions on the recognitions. More information on the recognitions can be found in the freshly-updated Emblem and Flag Code.
The highest recognition the Student Union can give, the Badge of Honour, was awarded to long-time advocacy activist and disciple of the university student movement Annika Nevanpää and SYL’s previous Secretary General Roope Tukia, who worked with all his strength to secure the status of student unions. According to the Emblem and Flag Code, the Badge of Honour can be awarded to a person who has acted actively, extensively, and for a particularly long time for the benefit of the Student Union and has furthered the goals and aspirations of the Student Union.

The Student Union’s Badge of Merit was awarded to Anniina Honkasaari, who has worked especially for the equality of the student culture; to Nina Kovanen, a long-term teekkari active who’s always willing to lend a hand; to Julius Haapakoski, a long-term teekkari and TEK active; to Noora Hakulinen, a long-term association and student movement active, and to Oke Rouhe, the Student Union’s Financial Manager. The badge of merit can be awarded to a present or former member or staff member of the Student Union who has acted actively and for a long time for the benefit of the Student Union and furthered the goals and aspirations of the Student Union.

Hanna Kuusela ja Lauri Turunen were awarded an Honorary Membership of the Student Union. Hanna Kuusela has significantly contributed to the Finnish university democracy and acted favourably to the aspirations of the Student Union in the Academic Board of the university, especially during the merging of the universities in Tampere. Lauri Turunen is a long-serving university employee responsible for the maintenance of Hervanta campus, and his student-focused approach maintains the “Hervanta campus spirit”. According to section 5 of the Main Rule, the Student Union may admit an individual who has contributed outstandingly to the endeavours of the Student Union as an honorary member.

The Standard of the Student Union may be awarded to a community in recognition of long-term cooperation. The Standard was awarded to event organising queer club Sekava ry and to Tampereen Teekkarien Moottorikerho ry, who maintains the Student Union’s vans.

Warm congratulations to all awarded! All recogntions awarded by the Student Union and their more in-depth reasonings can be found in the Recognitions and acknowledgments -subpage.
