Apply to TREY Committees for 2026!

TREY is looking for members to join Committees operating under Council supervision. These include Visiiri Editorial Board, Financial Committee, Honorary Committee and Strategy Committee.

You can apply for these committees from 10 October to 2 November. Student Union Board will go through the applications and prepare a statement for the Council. The Council will nominate Strategy Committee and Editorial Board in it’s autumn meeting 18 November, and Financial Committee and Honorary Committee in it’s organisational meeting on 19 November.

What is it about?

The Editorial Board is a working group operating under the Council of Representatives that has the decision-making authority on some matters concerning the student union magazine Visiiri. The special task of the Editorial Board is to follow closely the operations of the magazine and to discuss with its editor-in-chief its contents, place of print, publishing platform and purchases. In addition, the editorial board participates in budgeting with the editor-in-chief. The Editorial Board is looking for five members, at least four of whom must be members of the Student Union. The Editorial Board will elect its own chairperson from among its members.

The Committee for Financial Affairs is a specialist working group operating under the Council of Representatives. The committee gives out statements to the council or the board about its area of expertise when needed. The Committee for Financial Affairs handles things with the student union’s financial affairs, business activities, and ownership of property and real estate. The Committee for Financial Affairs is looking for 3-10 members, one of whom will be elected as chairperson. Applications for The Committee for Financial Affairs can be submitted by members of the Student Union or, for example, by alumni of the Student Union.

Strategy Committee is a new committee for the year 2026. It’s main task is to prepare the new TREY strategy for 2027-2030 for Council to decide on. The committee is initially seeking 3–5 members through an open call for applications. Applications to the Strategy Committee are welcome from both the Council and other members of the larger student community. In addition to student members, the committee includes representatives from TREY’s staff and board.

The Honorary Committee is responsible for the awards granted by TREY, including presenting the nominations to the Board and the Council and reviewing the Emblem and Flag Code. Traditionally, meritorious student union actives have been invited to join the Honorary Committee, but this year an open call for applications will also be held to diversify the composition of the committee.
