Onni Härkönen has been chosen as TREY’s Specialist in Educational Affairs! TREY’s Board decided on the recruitment in its meeting on 18 June 2025.
Härkönen has worked as an Advocacy Specialist in Suomen Opiskelija-Allianssi – OSKU ry and has served as the Vice Chair of the Student Union of Tampere University, as well as its Chair of the Council of Representatives and a council member during terms 2021–2025. In addition, Härkönen has experience in several positions as a student representative in university administration from faculty level to the Academic Board. Härkönen is a Bachelor of Social Sciences from social research and a master’s student in Social Policy.
In their new position, Härkönen is looking forward to learning new things, having a nice work community, as well as responsible and challenging work. “Local educational affairs are the cornerstone of the university world and university democracy, without which the university is not a university. I want to be a part of making Tampere University an even better place to be, study and make an impact”, Härkönen outlines.
Härkönen started in their new position last week on 28 July 2025. The main responsibilities of the Specialist in Educational Affairs include local educational advocacy, especially coordination of student representative activities in university administration, education policy activities of student associations, and other topics related to university administration. In addition, the position includes developing advocacy and cooperation partner affairs related to educational policy issues, promoting student affairs in various working groups, and advising students on issues related to education policy.
