TREY supports associations with its association status with operational grants once a year. In 2025, the operational grant budget totals 86 000 €. Additionally, the Student Union Building Foundation (Tampereen Ylioppilastalosäätiö) distributes its own grants in conjunction with TREY’s support. Grants are awarded based on criteria that can be found on TREY’s website in the Grants-subpage.
Only associations with TREY’s association status are eligible to apply for support. Additionally, associations must meet the criteria outlined in the association regulations for the granting of operational grants. One of the criteria is that the association announcement, which was sent to the Student Union at the beginning of the year, is filled precisely and on time.
The basis for granting the operational grants are the association’s financial need (means-tested part) and the score from the application, which is based on the quality and development of the operations (motivational part). Questions about the motivational part will be answered on the basis of the previous term of office.
All associations entitled to the operational grants can apply for both or one of the operational grant components. The additional grant provided by the Student Union Building Foundation can be applied for if the association has applied for one or both components of TREY’s operational grant.
The operational grants can now be applied for for the first time via TREY’s new association portal, JIPPO, at jippo.trey.fi. More information on the introduction of the new system JIPPO can be read in its own news article.
The application period for operational grants is until 5 May 2025. Decisions on operational grants will be made no later than two months after the application deadline, and grants will be disbursed within a month of approval.
