New TREY employees in autumn 2022!

Many new employees have started at TREY this autumn! Also featuring the new
Secretary General who started in the spring but has yet to be introduced. For
the introduction, the employees were asked four questions and they got to
answer freely. Let’s go see what kind of people have arrived at the offices!

Roope Tukia, Secretary General

Who are you?

Apparently a doggo-daddy with a bad sense of humour and a Central-Finland-based regionalHymyilevä mies.identity. Also the Secretary General and a business owner. Life is the best time to be alive.

How has work at TREY started for you?

Let’s say that we were going fast and now we’re going faster. Definitely jumped straight into the deep end like Matti Nykänen off the ski jumping ramp. But it’s a damn nice job!

What are you expecting this autumn?

The Representative Election, of course! Election-time is the second-best time to be alive right after life.

What would you want to say to students?

Enjoy yourselves and have fun, and sometimes you can take an exam, I guess. And vote in the Representative Election!

Yeti Kakko, Specialist in Association Affairs and harassment contact
person

Who are you?

Hymyilevä mies.

Hello there! I’m Yeti Kakko, TREY’s brand-new Specialist in Association Affairs and harassmentcontact person.

How has work at TREY started for you?

I’m only down one week and new information has been coming my way both in small streams
and in surging rapids. But luckily, I’ve also had time to sit down in a bit of peace and quiet and
read up on association law.

What are you expecting this autumn?

New experiences in association work and challenging questions from the TREY associations. I hope I’ll be genuinely able to help everyone with big and small things alike.

What would you want to say to students?

When you do association work, you give a lot, but you also learn a lot. If there’s anything on
your mind about association work or association administration, please feel free to send me a message!

Kristiina Baltzar, Journalist Trainee

Who are you?

I’m Krisse. Human. Forever-student in journalism. New journalist trainee at Visiiri. Proud owner
Hymyilevä nainen.of Staro the cat.

How has work at TREY started for you?

My work has started surprisingly effortlessly. I just turned up at the Visiiri offices and here we are.

What are you expecting this autumn?

This autumn I’m expecting to put blood, sweat and tears into my work.

What would you want to say to students?

I would tell students to not waste their youth on trivial things.

Ele Kuru, Translator Trainee

Who are you?

I’m Ele, the translator trainee at TREY this autumn. My home association is Transla and I’m

starting out my seventh and hopefully last year of studies in multilingual communication and translation here at Tampere University.

How has work at TREY started for you?

Hymyilevä nainen.

My time at TREY has started well with working on the Representative Election and autumn
events as well as on some bigger projects in educational affairs. The vibe at the offices is
always good and I surprised even myself with how well I’ve gotten into the rhythm of the
community in just a few weeks.

What are you expecting this autumn?

I’m expecting to face many interesting challenges with different kinds of translation jobs. This work is really varied which is motivating and helps keep me awake!

What would you want to say to students?

To my fellow students I want to say: remember to go at your own pace and be sensitive to your own needs. You’ll have time to graduate later – what matters most is how you’re doing right now!

Joni Pelkonen, Assistant in Member Services

Who are you?

Hymyilevä mies.

I’m Joni, freshly a Master of Arts from the history programme and the new TREY Assistant in
Member Services.

How has work at TREY started for you?

Work has started great and action-packed with the arrival of new students.

What are you expecting this autumn?

This autumn I’m waiting for the autumn colours and the beginning of the ice hockey season.

What would you want to say to students?

I would want to tell students to take care of themselves, that’s how you get the most out of
your studies.
