TREY works in close collaboration with many interest groups to promote the interests of students on the local and national levels. On this page, we introduce our most important partners.
Opiskelijan Tampere ry is a cooperation project started by the student bodies and student unions of Tampere together with the Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The original purpose of the organisation was to bring students and the business world closer together with student benefits, and its supply of services has since expanded to cover the student’s life in various ways. TREY and Tamko are Opiskelijan Tampere ry’s permanent members.
Tampere University of Applied Sciences’ student body Tamko takes care of the advocacy of TAMK’s students and operates as a link between its members. Together Tamko and TREY represent the majority of university students in Tampere.
TREY, like all other student unions in Finland, is a member of the National Union of University Students in Finland. Altogether, SYL represents 132,000 students and operates as their mouthpiece in society. In addition to SYL, individual student unions are also important interest groups of TREY.
Finnish Students Sport Federation is a national student and university sports advocacy and service organisation, that represents all university students of Finland. OLL serves and trains them, does research and advocacy and operates in both national and international fields to promote student sports.
Finnish Student Health Service is responsible for the health care of students of Tampere University. FSHS has an office in every university city of our country, and you can also use the services of Helsinki, Turku, Jyväskylä and Oulu offices with certain limitations. TREY also has a representative in the FSHS administrative organ.
Nyyti ry is a national organisation that supports students’ mental well-being and promotes mental health with peer support activities in Tampere.
Tampere University merged the former University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology to form a new foundation-based university. In addition, Tampere University owns the majority share of Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Ministry of Education and Culture
The Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for issues related to education, science and financial aid for students on the national level.
The City of Tampere
The City of Tampere is an important interest group in the supervision of the interests of the 35,000 university students of Tampere.
Tampere Student Housing Foundation TOAS has offered affordable student housing in Tampere since 1959. TOAS rents and maintains over 6,000 student apartments, including studios as well as shared and family apartments. The foundation is an active and student-orientated real estate developer that emphasises central locations. TREY is one of TOAS’ background organisations and has representation on TOAS’ board and delegation overseeing the foundation’s operations.
OP Tampere is a bank owned by its owner-customers and a part of OP Financial Group. They offer us banking and insurance services. Their operation is guided by the stable set of values of cooperation: humanity, responsibility and succeeding together. Their basic task is to create sustainable economic success, security and well-being for their owner-customers and business environment with the help of our strong financial solidity and efficiency.
Pirkan Opiskelija-asunnot, POAS for short, is a limited non-profit company owned by the City of Tampere. At the moment, the company owns over 30 housing complexes around the city. The flats are rented to students at the universities in Tampere and the Pirkanmaa region, as well as to working people under 30 years of age. POAS offers flats near the universities around Tampere, close to good traffic connections.
