May Day Cap award
May Day Cap is a recognition award that is given annually to a cultural active in Tampere or the surrounding area who has significantly promoted the student culture and students’ culture, being a student and being despite studying. The receiver of the May Day Cap award is decided by the Executive Board of the student union based on community proposals.

Competitions
Naming competition for TREY’s association portal 2025
A naming competition for TREY’s association portal was held in March 2025, garnering 60 name suggestions in total. JIPPO was chosen as the association portal’s name, as it stems from the Finnish words Järjestöjen ItsePalveluPOrtaali (Associations Self-service Portal). The winner of the naming competition, Pyry Lehtinen, described their suggestion as follows: “In Finnish, Jippo is slang for a cool trick which using the portal will feel like with all the association services neatly in one place.”. The Associations and Communications sectors chose the name from the submitted name suggestions. The portal’s official name is TREY’s association portal JIPPO.
Idea competition for naming the student union magazine 2020
The name contest we organised in the spring 2020 for the naming of the student union magazine gathered over 50 suggestions. The winner was the proposition “Visiiri” from Maria Jussila, who studies administrative sciences and social work in Tampere University. Jussila describes the visors purpose as protecting the wearer, in this purpose a student, from outside threats. Check out the name reveal video on TREY’s Youtube-channel.
Idea competition for the premises of Pienteollisuustalo 2019
Student Union of Tampere University held an open idea competition in order to renovate the spaces the student union owns in Pienteollisuustalo, Yliopistonkatu 60. The aim was to collect ideas for renovating the office spaces in a functional, feasible and innovative way. The winner was Maria Väätäinen with their work Hemma.
