Description of the workshops

There are a total of 19 workshops, which are divided into two different time slots – one before the meal and one after. Every workshop is organized only once. We have tried to divide the workshops thematically equally between the timeslots.

One workshop will be organized in English in the first time slot. One workshop will be interpreted from Finnish to English in the second time slot. The rest of the workshops are only in Finnish and their descriptions can be found in the event page in Finnish.

Time slot 1 (at 13.30-15.00)

International student culture – a threat, or an opportunity?

Target group: all working with student culture

Over 10% of new university students in Finland are international, a number that rises to almost 25% among technology students. With student traditions that date back decades, are there risks to including this growing group? Can these risks be mitigated, and are they truly outweighed by the benefits?

The workshop will be run by Owain Hopeaketo, who works as Project Manager for international experts at TEK after moving to Finland to study in 2016.

Time slot 2 (at 16-17.30)

ABC of association administration – Stumbling through administration (Yhdistyshallinnon ABC – Hoiperrellen hallinnon halki, will be interpreted to English)

Target group: Chairpersons, secretaries

Are you a newbie in the field of association administration? Does the association’s paperwork load make you so anxious that you’d rather not do it? In this workshop, TREY’s Specialist in Association Affairs Yeti guides you through the basics of association administration.

The workshop will be run by TREY’s Specialist in Association Affairs Yeti Ahonen-Kakko.
